Yardling Nine Tops Exeter; Wentworth Defeats Jayvees

Visitors Score Seven in First, Coast to 11-6 Victory

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Lloyd Harper's Jayvee nine just couldn't get started yesterday as Wentworth Institute hopped on them for seven runs in the first inning and led all the way for an 11 to 6 triumph at Soldiers Field.

The visitors managed to combine four hits with four walks, an error, and a sacrifice in the first frame for seven tallies, and they added four more later to stave off the Jayvee uprisings.

Bennett, Turner Share Pitching

Bill Bennett and Wally Turner shared the mound duties for the Jayvees. Bennett, the starter, gave up eight hits and six passes during his six innings on the hill, while Turner allowed four hits and three walks in the remaining three frames.

Rightfielder Clay provided the only extra-base hit for the Crimson, belting out a long triple in the eighth to score two of his teammates.

The Jayvee Lineup: Connolly, c.f.; Santarpio, 2b; Ellis, lf; Essayen, c; Adler, ss; Davis, 1b; Clay, rf; McLaughlin, 3b; Bennett, p.
