Council to Study Budget at Initial Meeting Tonight

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Acting only one day after registration, the Student Council will meet for the first time this term tonight at 7:15 o'clock in Phillips Brooks House, with the presentation of the annual budget expected to be the most important single item on the agendas.

The budget, which the 15-man Council will consider, may amount to nearly $30,000. Ray A. Goldberg '48 will present the proposed allotment to the group as his first official act as treasurer since he was elected to the Council last spring.

Last night Goldberg reported that $7,263 had been collected for the Council Service Fund in the three-day registration period comprising Thursday, Friday, and yesterday. In addition, he estimated that nearly $10,000 worth of pledges had been turned in to the Council for the Fund during the same time. Returning upperclassmen made cash contributions of $3,860 towards the Council goal of $25,000 as they passed through Memorial Hall yesterday, he said.
