Cornell Five Coasts to 71-59 Win Over Crimson at Arena

In complete command of the situation throughout, Cornell's basketball team shoved the Crimson further down into the EIL depths last night by thumping Coach Barclay's men 71 to 59 before a crowd of 6500 at the Arena.

As in its previous victory this season over the Varsity at Ithaca, the Big Red relied on Captain Bob Gale and Ed Peterson for its scoring punch. These two giraffe-like men controlled the backboards and hit for 32 points between them.

They were ably assisted by a new player, Hillary Chollet, who rejoined the team following a football injury layoff and eased in 22 points. Both Chollet and Peterson left the game with five personal fouls during the first ten minutes of the second half.

George Hauptfuhrer (20), Walt McCurdy (19), and John Rockwell (11) led the Crimson scoring. The rest of the Harvards were firing mostly blank cartridges all night. Cornell built up a rapid nine-to-two lead in the opening minutes and at one point during the first half held a 20-point bulge.
