Bricklayers End Strike at Lamont

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Lamont construction is back on schedule again and engineers hope for an early fall completion of the building, now that the month-long strike of masons has been settled. The walkout over a wage dispute had threatened to halt all other work on the building.

The bricklayers' union called the strike on April 1, after the year's contract had expired. Union and construction officials met daily in attempts to arbitrate the differences but little hope appeared until the sudden announcement of the settlement last week. Masons returned to work immediately.
