Leo Marx 4G has won the $400 Helen Choate Bell Prize for 1948-49, Sargent Kennedy, Registrar and Secretary of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, announced yesterday.
Marx's essay was entitled, "The Steam Fiend: The Development of a Symbol."
The prize is awarded annually for the best essay of five to ten thousand words on a subject in American Literature.
