Pawnshops and jewelry stores in this area are being watched by the police in an effort to locate a $1000 diamond engagement ring lost Tuesday afternoon in Brattle Square.
Mrs. Morton Sills, wife of a local clothier, who lost the ring while pulling off her tight, new glove, reported the loss to a traffic patrolman. He checked with jewelry stores in the vicinity, where he discovered that the ring had turned up in the hands of an unidentified student.
The stores reporting seeing the student were the Simpson Jewelry Company at 1 Brattle Square and Derby Jeweler, Inc. on Massachusetts Avenue. At both places this student asked if the one and a half carat diamond were genuine. He was described as being 25 years old, 5 ft, 11 inches tall, and wearing a dark topcoat and no hat.
