Eliot's crew came from behind yesterday to edge out the Winthrop eight by one second in the five-boat House finals. The Elephants' time for the one mile course was 5:26.
The Puritans were ahead going into the stretch, but they caught a crab, and spent enough time recovering to let Eliot slip on to victory. Leverett, Adams, and Lowell were bunched ten seconds behind the winner.
In House baseball, Leverett made the most of two hits and defeated Dunster, 5 to 2. Dick Covey and Tom Fitzpatrick each got two hits off Bunny hurler Si Lippmann, but Lippmann bore down with men on base to preserve the win.
The Eliot softball team rang up its third straight win, beating Adams, 12 to 5. Dunster topped Lowell, 7 to 1.
Today Matthews North and Lionel Hall will play at 4 p.m. at Soldiers Field for the Yard softball championship. Matthews North is favored.
