Yale College masters said last night that the new parietal regulations there are working "better than we expected."
"Although the complications of signing in and out get a little awkward" said Theodore M. Greene, master of Pierson College, "all my boys observe the rules perfectly."
Acting Edwards College head Stuart R. Berkely said. "I was not here when the plan was put into effect late last spring, but I'm impressed with the results so far this year."
Girls Schools Favor Plan
In Saybrook, master Basil D. Henning said the reasons for adopting the Saturday night 11 p.m. limit were to "keep the boys off the street and out of questionable or expensive places of entertainment."
Opinions from several New England girls schools were favorable to a lengthening of room permissions here. The Wheaton College Student Government association polled students and faculty there. It concluded from results that there is "no reason why such a change (11 p.m. limits for weekend nights) is not possible." The report added that "the permanency ... depends on the way the men react towards such privileges."
Any change here would have to come from the House masters and be brought up before the House Committee. This group in turn refers it to the administration which submits it to the faculty committee for action. Although the House Committee meets tonight, sources reported yesterday that discussion of parietal rules is not on the formal agenda. The masters may take it up informally afterwards.
