Wrestlers Begin Schedule Against Engineers Today

Varsity wrestlers are expected to hand M.I.T. a defeat when they begin their second season under Coach Bob Pickett at 4 p.m. today in the Blockhouse. Howie Houston's freshmen will also open their mat season against the Engineers today their match is starting at 2 p.m. in the Indoor Athletic Building.

Four sophomores will be at starting posts for Pickett: Eddie Bursk at 123, Myies Cunningham at 147, Chick Chandler, captain of last year's Yardling squad, at 157, and George Bates at heavyweight.

Captain Johnny Lee, undefeated lightweight last year, will not see action for the first few meets because of a knee operation that he underwent last September. Pickett hopes to have the National A.A.U. 123-pound winner ready for the first meet in January.

Perhaps the best wrestlers on the team, Bud Adams and Icko Ibon, are at the 130 and 137-pound posts. Adams lost only one match in 1950-51, while Iben has dropped from 147 pounds to his present weight. Joe Hubbard, 167, and Dick Farrington, 177, will round out tomorrow's first squad.
