A permanent athletic plaque will be placed in the Union Lower Common Room sometime before next year if everything goes as planned. The plaque will be inscribed each year with the various freshman champions in each sport and the year's champion.
The project is the result of several months' work on the part of a special Union Committee group, headed by Richard C. Hermann '54, and the Freshman Athletic Council. The idea was first originated three years ago but no action was taken until this year.
An actual sized sketch was submitted Wednesday to an architect and is now being studied to determine the cost, which will probably be in the vicinity of $500. The Union Committee will supply the funds.
If the cost is within the range of the Union Committee's funds, University authorities have indicated they will agree to the plan.
