Douglas C. Walker, veteran Wake Forest head football coach, will join the Yale grid staff as a varsity assistant to Herman Hickman, a Yale official announced last night.
Walker, known to most of the football world as "Peahead," has coached the Wake Forest Deacons for the past 14 years, and was the first Deacon coach to win more games than he lost. He was renowned for upsetting schools with triple the enrollment of Wake Forest. His new appointment came as a complete surprise to him.
In a similar move, Brown University appointed Mathew J. Bolger, Jr. new end coach. Bolger played for Notre Dame and Cornell, and last fall he served as a line coach for Upsala.
