The Third Symphony of Walter H. Piston '24, Naumberg Professor of Music, will be the featured work in the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra's annual spring concert on Friday, May 11, Peter H. Judd '53, general manager of the Orchestra, announced yesterday.
Piston's symphony was chosen after the Boston Symphony decided not to perform it this year because of scheduling difficulties. This will be the first of Piston's works ever performed by the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra.
The concert will include Mozart's Linz Symphony, and Bach's Triple Concerto for flute, violin, and piano. Soloists will be Howard M. Brown '51, Earl C. Ravenal '52 and Martin Roykan '51.
