Long-winded exam writers are out of luck in History 133 this spring. The essay question in the coming final will be limited to a specific number of words. Professor of History Donald C. McKay told his class yesterday. McKay has not revealed the word limit.
McKay said he though this would be the first time brevity was over enforced in an exam here. "I hope this will result in better quality writing," he explained.
Students in his course will have to check their old blue-books for the number of words they average to the page in order to calculate properly for the stream-lined final.
The new system is aimed at essay writers who throw in all the information they can muster in the hope that some of it may be right. McKay hazarded the guess that if his plan proves successful it may soon become the rule in other courses as well.
