'Cliffe girls are repainting a room in the basement of Briggs to be used as a non-sectarian chapel. The Radcliffe Christian Fellowship is sponsoring the chapel, which will be open all day to members of the College.
"A cross and candles will be the only religious symbols in the room to keep it as non-sectarian as possible," said Pauline Teelman, president of the Christian Fellowship. The organization plans to hold evening vespers services in the chapel later in the year.
Radcliffe has no official religious meeting place. Mrs. Thomas C. Moser, Dean of Residence, said yesterday that Cambridge offers so many opportunities for members of different faiths that the college feels a separate place is unnecessary. "But if space is available and a group of students show bona fide interest, the college will give permission for any legitimate activity."
