House Committee chairmen met last night and decided they would "exchange information on common problems."
In a gathering called by Robert G. Lown '53 of Lowell, the representatives of seven Houses and Dudley formed an informal group which will meet once a month. They named it the "House Committee Chairmen's Council."
Allen F. Rieselbach '53 of Kirkland reported the group wanted it known that it "was assuming no power."
In the first meeting, Lown acted as chairman. But in the future each member will take his turn running the meeting. Morris Babb '53 of Adams was appointed permanent secretary.
The Council would issue no statement on the parietal rules change. It decided action in this field was "not in its province."
However, it did discuss the Yale weekend mix-up in the Inter-House Dance Committee. At that time, Adams, Dunster, Kirkland, and Leverett "fought for patrons in a vicious price war."
Then those Houses with constitutions read them to the meeting. Only Eliot and Kirkland have no constitution.
Finally the chairmen discussed faculty members and the advantages of having them sit in on committee meetings. They came to no definite conclusion on this matter.
