The varsity sailing team continued to demonstrate its local superiority -- statistically as well as competitively -- with the revision yesterday that Crimson skipper had placed first second, and seventh in the New England rankings for the spring.
Sopomore Jim Nathanson topped the field with a, 796 percentage. Charlie Hoppin trailed closely with, 790. (The figure is the ratio of the number of points the skipper actually gained to the total number possible) John Bishop averaged, 724.
Leonard M. Fowle, who compiled the ratings for the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association, warned that the figures are not final.
The Crimson trio, sailing in various combinations won such major regattas as the New England Championship (Coast Guard Bowl), the Ivy League title (Owen Trophy), and the Greater Boston Championship (Oberg Trophy).
