Burgin Conducts Orchestra Exams

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Last night in the Paine Hall, Richard Burgin, newly-appointed conductor of the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, held the year's second audition for new members. In response to the call for fresh talent, 65 musicians strummed and drummed to set a new record for auditions in one night. Burgin, who doubles as Concert master and Associate Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, hopes to enlarge the string section with many of the exceptionally large number of violinists in last night's tryout.

Next Thursday, in Sanders Theatre, the H-R Orchestra will held a sight rehearsal for all university musicians, regardless of whether they have already auditioned. Burgin will lead a balanced program including Brahms and Moussorgsky.
