Houses Choose Men for Council; Hatcher, Levin, Sirota, Baker Win

Seven juniors were elected last night to represent their Houses in the Student Council. The Dudley House results will not be known until today.

Albert B. Levin '56, a former Council member, defeated four men to win the Kirkland House election. Among those he defeated were Roger C. Ravel, present Kirkland House representative, and sophomore class representative Allen Williams '57.

James G. Hatcher '56, the only other present Council member running in the election, defeated Thor H. Thors '56 to win the Dunster House position.

David K. Sirota '56 edged out four other candidates to win the Eliot House election, while Gerald L. Cherry '56 was elected to the Adams House post over three opponents.

Frank H. Baker '56 was elected to represent Leverett House, defeating two opponents. John R. Green '56 defeated three men to become Lowell House representative, and David C. Baum '56 won over Edward V. Keating, Jr. '56 in the Winthrop House balloting.

Joseph D. Murphy '55, a member of the Student Council Elections Committee, estimated that between 70 and 80 percent of House members voted. Voting percentages were higher in each House than in last year's election.

"We had a fine turnout of candidates for this election, and we expect a similar turnout for next week's class elections," Murphy added. Class elections for the Student Council will be held next Wednesday.
