Department Chairman Dies Suddenly at 62

John H. Mueller, Charles Wilder Professor of Bacteriology and Immunology, died suddenly last night at his home in Roxbury. He was 62 years old.

Mueller had been head of the Bacteriology department of the Medical School since his appointment in 1942.

Before being appointed an assistant professor of Bacteriology, Mueller taught at the University of Louisville and Columbia University.

He graduated from Wesleyan in 1912 and also held degrees from Louisville and Columbia. He was awarded an honorary Master of Arts in Education in 1942 by the University.
