SUPPORT FOR WINANT

The Mail

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

In the Winant Volunteers program, established in 1948, undergraduate men and women from American colleges seek to improve the relations between our country and England by working in the boys' and girls' clubs of London.

The Winant program is not one which can expect the mass contribution which results from direct relief appeals or from the highly organized operations of professional fund-raising concerns. Its only hope for support is from those who are personally acquainted with its work and from a special group such as the Harvard student body, which can appraise the value of its activities and supply it with the funds and man-power it needs.

The Harvard student body has shown its interest in the program by writing in contributions in last years' Combined Charities Drive and in sending volunteers to London each year, the Harvard contingent last year numbering eight men and women.

The Winant program for the summer of 1956 needs support at Harvard. Robert P. Well, Jr. '57
