The Junior Varsity football team came from behind once, but couldn't do it a second time as the Tufts junior varsity won a 13-7 contest at Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon.
A poor 15-yard punt into a heavy wind gave the Jumbos the ball on the Crimson 25 early in the second period. A few plays later Cliff Rand bucked over from the 4-yard line. The pass for the point after touchdown was incomplete, and the Jumbos led, 6-0.
Sparked by tailback Bing Crosby, the JV's marched 90 yards for a touchdown following the Tufts kickoff. Ash Hallett plunged the last three yards for the tally, and Crosby kicked the point to give the team a 7-6 halftime lead.
Six minutes after the start of the fourth period, the Jumbos' Joe Marsh climaxed a 45-yard drive to give Tufts a 13-7 lead and a victory.
