In their first real test of the year, the freshman basketball team rose to the occasion Saturday and defeated a strong Providence five, 74-60. Although they were behind 35-33 at the half, the Yardlings turned the tide of the game by successfully employing a zone defense against their opponents fast-breaking attack.
High scorer for the Crimson was center Bryant Danner who, besides contributing 22 points to the winning cause, monopolized the boards for the Yardlings in collecting 23 rebounds. Captain Bob Harrington was second high scorer with 14 points.
