HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
Bill Wister, captain of the varsity squash team led the Crimson to victory in the second annual intercollegiate invitation court tennis tournament held Saturday and yesterday in New York at the Racquet and tennis club.
By winning 8 matches in the round robin tournament, compared to Yale's 6 and Princeton's 1, the team annexed the James H. Van Alen trophy.
In singles, Wister defeated dozier Gardner of Princeton's 6-0 and 6-2, and James Van Alen of Yale 2-6, 6-5, and 6-3, while in doubles he teamed with Nick Ludington to beat Van Alen and James Brady, 6-2 and 6-0 and Gardner and Terry Evans, 6-2 and 6-2. Ludington also defeated Evans, 6-2 and 6-2, but lost to Brady, 3-6, 6-4, and 6-2.
John Lonsdale won two matches and Jim Mosley won one and lost one.
