Committee Meets Today to Select East NCAA Sixes

The NCAA Eastern Selection Committee will converse by telephone this morning in an effort to decide on two representatives for the national hockey tournament at Colorado Springs on March 10-12.

A final decision is expected after the long distance meeting since St. Lawrence virtually dropped Clarkson College of Potsdam, N.Y., from contention last night with a 2 to 1 victory in sudden-death overtime.

It new appears that St. Lawrence and the varsity sextet will receive the two Eastern bids which are based entirely on season's records in NCAA competition. The Crimson has a 15-1-1 record and St. Lawrence stands at 16-1-0, while Clarkson has fallen to 14-4-0.

Cleverly Selection Chairman

Both the varsity and the Larries from Canton, N.Y., have one NCAA game left to play. It the Committee decides to wait until the entire eastern schedule has been completed, the final selections will be postponed until Sunday, when the three committee coaches will meet at the Kenmore in Boston.

The members of the Committee are chairman harry cleverly of Boston University, Ned Harkness of R.P.I., and Eddie Jeremiah of Dartmouth.

Cleverly said yesterday afternoon that if it was possible his committee would reach a decision this morning in order to give the two teams more time to prepare for the trip.
