HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
David Maxwell, a law student and exvarsity squash player at Yale, became the first man to gain the semi-finals yesterday in the University squash Tournament at Hemenway.
In defeating seventh-seeded Guy Paschal, a varsity player, Maxwell earned five more points than his opponent. He won in straight games, 18-17, 18-16, and 15-13. Behind 14-17 in the first game, Maxwell went on to take the next four points. Maxwell managed to take the last two games in close play.
Three varsity players, two law students, and one professor of law have yet to play their quarterfinal matches. No times for the matches have yet been set.
In the other quarter-final contests Donald Scott, first seeded, will meet Charles Symington; Professor of Law Robert Braucher will oppose Ben Heckscher, first man on the varsity; and crimson captain Bill Wister will play the squad's fourth man, Bob Brown.
