Judge Sets Bail for Kluckhohn at $12,000

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The parents of Richard Kluckhohn, both members of the University faculty, last night began a search to raise a cash bond of $12,000 from friends in order to release their son from jail until his trial on a murder charge, scheduled for June 6.

Kluckhohn, who told police a gun he was fingering fired accidentally and killed a passerby, may be prosecuted for anything from first degree murder, which carries the death penalty, to manslaughter, punishable by a sentence of from 18 to 20 months in jail.

Raleigh, N.C. police arrested the University professor's son three hours after the shooting at Chapel Hill, more than 30 miles from Raleigh.
