'Missing' Sophomore Returns Unscathed

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A Dunster House sophomore, previously feared lost, will return to the College late this week after a 700-mile canoe expedition in northwest Canada which ended tragically with the death of its leader.

Peter T. Franck '58, Woodside, Cal., one of five survivors of the expedition, last night arrived in Winnipeg from Churchill, where the group remained pending decision on an inquest.

The trip, which carried the group within 150 miles of the Arctic Circle claimed the life of 36-year-old Arthur Moffat, adventurer and lecturer. He died of shock and exposure after being hurled into the icy waters of the Dubawnt River, as the party neared the end of an 87-day expedition.
