Yale Wrestlers Beat Crimson, 22-8, For 22 Year Streak Over Varsity

For the 22nd consecutive year, the Crimson wrestling team lost to Yale Saturday. Only two varsity men won in the 22 to 8 defeat in the Blockhouse.

The combination of an Eli team expecially strong in the lighter weights and an injury to Captain Phil Burnaman put the varsity out of the match quickly. Yale had a 19 to 0 lead before Bob Gilmor defeated Bulldog captain Roger Hinkson, 6 to 0, in the 167 pound division.

Heavyweight Pete Morrison was the Crimson's top performer, pinning Peter Wright in 32 seconds of the third period.

In two close matches Steve Jackson of Yale edged Dick Hook 8 to 6 in the 157 pound class, and the Crimson's Caspar Cronk lost to Jack Kohr 3 to 0 at 177.

Yale's Andrew Fitch at 123 opened the match by pinning Tatsuo Arima at 2.34 of the first period, and the Elis' Otis Graham downed John Winthrop 5 to 0 at 130.

The recurrence of an old injury forced Captain Burnaman to forfeit his match to Ted Reese in the 137 pound class. Phil Hepner of the Bulldogs followed with a 9 to 2 decision over Phil Andrews at 147.
