Boston College handed the varsity golf team its third defeat of the season yesterday, 6 to 1. The score, however, is definitely misleading, for five of the Crimson's defeats were not determined until the seventeenth hole.
The lone varsity victor was number six man Alan Steinert, who defeated his opponent handily, 5 and 4. At number one, Bill McAllister dropped a closely contested match, 2 to 1, to Pordy Pitts.
Undepressed, coach "Josh" Williams said, "Once we get started winning, we will be all right." Williams felt that the team should be able to get started Saturday against Wesleyan.
Playing two, Captain Bob Ornsteen lost 4 and 3, while behind him Roger Fleischman lost 1-down on the final hole.
