Wallace McDonald Will Be Freshman Dean Next Fall

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The incoming Class of 1960 will face a new Dean of Freshmen for the first half of next year.

Dean Bundy's office yesterday confirmed reports that Wallace McDonald '44, at present Director of Freshman Scholarships, has been appointed acting Dean of Freshmen, effective in July. His Corporation appointment will expire in February, 1957, when he will presumably return to his position in the Admissions and Scholarships Office.

McDonald temporarily replaces F. Skiddy von Stade, who has been granted a half-year's leave of absence. Von Stade, who has been Dean of Freshmen for four years, will journey abroad this summer, and will return to his present position next February.

The new acting-Dean of Freshmen worked as an assistant Dean while Wilbur J. Bender was Dean of Students, between 1948 and 1952. He then held a Fulbright Scholarship in Scotland for a year before returning to teach History at Williams for a year.
