On the House

In the first House football games of the year, Adams defeated Lowell 19-0, while flu-ridden Winthrop forfeited to Dunster. In the Adams-Lowell game, Adams capitalized on four fumbles by the Bellboys to score on a single-wing attack.

In soccer, the season has been in progress since last Thursday with four games played yesterday. Dunster defeated Adams in an even match, 1-0, behind the goaling of Mal MacLaren, while Winthrop lost to Eliot, 4-0 as the majority of the Puritan team was down with the flu.

In a third game, Lowell edged Kirkland 3-1. Kirkland dominated the play by three quick break-aways which provided Lowell the margin of victory.

The scheduled Leverett-Dudley game was cancelled because of double forfeitures, as both teams had trouble recruiting squads due to mild flu attacks.

Other contests of the past week were fairly close matches, with rain cancelling Tuesday's games. Last Thursday, Dudley lost to Winthrop, 4-0, while Adams beat Leverett, 2-0. On Friday, Eliot defeated Kirkland, last year's Straus Trophy holders, 3-0, while the Funsters beat Lowell, 2-0.

Most managers said that although practices have been hindered by the flu, they did not expect many more forfeitures.
