Final-Half Power Gives Yardlings 20-13 Victory

NEW HAVEN, Nov. 22--The Yardling football squad overcame the Yale freshmen, 20 to 13, completely dominating the second half of today's game.

The Crimson took charge midway through the third quarter, and broke the 6-6 tie which had existed since early in the first period. Yale managed to score once in the final quarter, but the Crimson swiftly scored again, after fullback Jon Serbin intercepted a pass on the Yale 25-yard line.

The Yardlings overwhelmed the Bulldogs during the second half, allowing them only 24 yards rushing. The Yale squad completed no passes during the final half, although they were able to complete six of 14 and to intercept three during the entire game. The Crimson completed five of 13, and intercepted only one.

The agile Yardling quarterback, Charlie Ravenel, scored early in the first period on a ten-yard end run. Yale quickly retaliated, driving for a tying touchdown scored by Tom Singleton.

Yale's pass attempts were successful in the second quarter, as quarterback Singleon connected twice with left-end George Lundstedt. The Crimson defense held, however, and the Bulldogs failed to score.

The Yardlings asserted themselves in the third period as a series of line drives, and a 35-yard pass from Dick Rinella to Bronstein set up a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Larry Repsher moved the ball to the one-yard line, and Rinella took it over on a quarterback sneak.

Soon after the kickoff, the Crimson lost possession of the ball on the Yale 22, and Bob Blanchard drove through the line for a touchdown.

Near the end of the period Serbin intercepted a pass on the Yale 25, and after three short advances, Repsher took the ball on a Statue of Liberty play on the 12 and swept around the end for the final touchdown.
