Henry 'Bert' Haines Dies, Coached Crew For 32 Years Here

Henry Herbert "Bert" Haines, 78, a Crimson rowing coach for 32 years until his retirement in 1952, died yesterday in Belmont after a brief illness.

Haines, known as the dean of American rowing coaches when he retired, coached the freshman crew from 1920 until 1936, when he became lightweight crew mentor.
