Tennis Team Faces Penn at Philadelphia In Pre-Yale Practice

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The varsity tennis team journeys to Philadelphia this morning to oppose a weak Penn team in the Crimson's final match before the Yale encounter. The match will be of very little consequence to the varsity and should do no more than provide practice for Thursday's meeting with the Bulldogs.

The varsity has just about lost all chance of retaining its Eastern Intercollegiate, Ivy, and Big Three titles, since last Saturday Princeton practically assured itself of an undefeated season by walloping Yale, 8 to 1. This was the last contest which stood between the Tigers and an undefeated season in the three leagues mentioned above.

Actually, Princton has lost one match this spring, to Presbyterian, 6 to 3, and therefore its overall record is the same as the Crimson's, since Harvard topped Presbyterian, 6 to 3. However, Presbyterian is in none of the three leagues, and therefore Princeton has the better record in this important respect.

The varsity must now concentrate on defeating the Elis, no easy task since the rteurn of sophomore Tom Freiburg.
