Penn Will Fire Sebo, Signs Rutgers Coach

By The ASSOCIATED Press

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 29--Penn football coach Steve Sebo is being dropped despite winning the 1959 Ivy League title and compiling the best university football record in 12 years, The Associated Press learned today.

A reliable source said that John Stiegman, head coach at Rutgers University, already has been selected as Sebo's successor. A recommendation to drop Sebo and hire Stiegman has been made to Dr. Gaylord P. Harnwell, Penn president.

The recommendation, by the faculty administrative committee, is expected to be acted upon Dec. 3.

Stiegman denied the report and Sebo said he hasn't been advised such a move is being made.

However, a source close to Stiegman confirmed that he has accepted the Penn job.
