Glimp Reports Result Of Scholarship Talks

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Fred L. Glimp '50, Director of Freshman Scholarships, returned yesterday from a conference prompted by the concern of the President of the National Merit Scholarship Program over the increasing restrictions forced upon scholarship holders.

Opposition at the conference to the NDEA disclaimer affidavit was almost unanimous, reported Glimp, who represented the Massachusetts Scholarship Program.

Glimp indicated that a committee would be formed from the other men attending the conferences--mostly representatives of national scholarship programs--to investigate this and other problems resulting from the increase in federal aid grants.

A second concern of the representatives was the high number of standardized tests secondary school students must take.
