Tuition Will Increase By $250 in Schools Of Divinity, Design

Two graduate schools will increase tuition by $250 next fall, the Administration anounced yesterday. Rates in the School of Design and the Divinity School will rise to $1250 and $750, respectively.

There will also be a "proportional increase in financial aid to keep pace with the rise in tuition," according to Jose Luis Sert, Dean of the School of Design, and Douglas Horton, Dean of the Divinity School. At least one half of any increased income will probably be plowed back into financial aid.

"No particular reasons" brought about the tuition rise, Norman T. Newton, Secretary of the School of Design, explained. "It is simply a matter of rising costs." The tuition increase will affect the 219 students in the School of Design and the 242 in the Divinity School.
