DINNER HONORS AIKEN

Howard H. Aiken, retired professor of Applied Mathematics and a pioneer in developing large-scale digital computers, was honored last night at a dinner in the Harvard Club of Boston.

At the surprise dinner, Acting President Charles A. Coolidge '17 presented Aiken with a silver model of Mark I, the world's first such computer, which Aiken helped to design. The model accurately represents the mammoth Mark I--down to tiny flashing panel lights and thumbnail-sized electric typewriter with keys and silver ribbons.
