Canadian University Challenges Harvard To Walking Contest

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In a special news conference last night, R. Thomas Seymour '64, chairman of the Harvard Council for Undergraduate Affairs, announced that St. Andrew's University in Nova Scotia has challenged Harvard to a 55-mile walking match.

The invitation came with a letter explaining the rules of the contest: each university would conduct a walk on its own territory, and the winner would be the college with the higher number of participants completing the hike. St. Andrew's is sponsoring the affair in order to publicize a "charity drive" and also to "demonstrate Canada's recognition of President Kennedy's physical fitness program."
