Agassiz Renovation Includes Art Studio

Workmen filled flower pots and painted a door blue yesterday to complete the renovation of Radcliffe's Agassiz building.

A basement art studio, which opened Nov. 5, was the major addition. New dressing rooms will be used by the casts of dramatic productions.

The theater, which seats 300, was painted, and new lights, ramps and curtains were added. Lamps and overhead lights will allow students to study in the newly decorated cafeteria. Carpeting has been added in the front hall.

Agassiz is used for over 71 different types of activities, ranging from dramatic productions and dances to individual studying and piano practicing, according to Mary G. Paget, Co-ordinator for Recreational Activities.

A committee of students, alumnae, trustees and staff from Harvard and Radcliffe drew up the remodeling plans. "We were primarily concerned with changes which could be completed during the summer," Miss Paget said yesterday. Figures are not yet available for the total cost of refurbishing the building, she said.
