Coaches Choose Tackle Hoffman On All-Ivy Team

Tackle John Hoffman was the only Harvard football player named to the official coach's all-Ivy team announced today.

Hoffman, a 6 ft., 8 in., 225-pound senior from Corning, N.Y., was named to the defensive team with three votes out of a possible seven.

A raft of Harvard players received honorable mention for the team. End Frank Ulcickas, tackle Joe Jurek, center and captain John O'Brien, and halfback Walt Grant received honorable mention for the offensive team. Linebackers Gene Skowronski and Bob Barrett and deep backs Paul Guzzi and Dave Poe received honorable mention on defense.

Guzzi, Ulcickas, and Skowronski were named earlier to the Associated Press All-Ivy defensive team.

Princeton, the undefeated league champion, and Cornell, which would up in fifth place, both placed seven men on the first teams.

There were six unanimous choices; three were from Princeton and two from Cornell. Cosmo Iacavazzi, Princeton's All-American fullback, was a unanimous backfield choice along with Archie Roberts of Columbia and Bob Baker of Cornell.
