Stephen H. Clark '65 of Lowell House and Cambridge, Mass., had an unexpected plunge into the Ammonoosue River in New Hampshire over the weekend. According to a story in yesterday's Boston Traveler, Clark was "dripping wet" when U.S. Forest Rangers found him.

Clark said last night he had been hiking and had "an overpowering urge" to practice his violin (which he had with him) in the middle of the frozen river. The ice gave way as soon as he set foot on it, he explained.

The fate of the violin is a matter for conjecture.
