Trackmen Get Goose Egg In NCAA Finals

Harvard went home empty-handed from the first NCAA indoor track meet, which was held in Detroit last week end.

Four members of the Crimson squad which finished third in the IC4A's competed in the national championship meet and none of them was able to place.

Art Croasdale put the shot better than 55 feet, two feet less than he needed to score. Sam Robinson was clocked in 1:12.5 for the 600-yard run--one of his best efforts of the year. But a blistering time of 1:11.6 was required just to make it into the finals.

Tony Lynch and Wayne Anderson reached the semifinals in the high hurdles and the dash respectively, but were eliminated.

Missouri, which does most of its running on dirt tracks, won the team championship with 14 points. The outstanding performance of the meet was Morgan State's record 3:15.6 in the mile relay. Theron Lewis of Southern University ran the 440 in 47.8 seconds, and Okla homa State's two mile relay team recorded a near-record time to 7:29.9.
