President Appoints David Riesman To Peace Corps Advisory Council

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

David Riesman '31, Henry Ford II Professor of Social Sciences, has been named to the Peace Corps's National Advisory Council by President Johnson.

The 24-member council plans a fullscale study of Peace Corps recruitment policies, Riesman said last week. "The Corps needs brilliant young people," he explained, "and it's not sure that it's been reaching them."

According to Riesman, the council may also look into ways of expanding programs which permit college students to serve in the Corps before they graduate.

Riesman has worked with the Peace Corps for several years. He went to Bogota, Columbia, last fall to meet with a group of volunteers and discuss problems confronting them.
