A fire resulting in an estimated $3000 damage broke out at 6:20 p.m. last night at the apartment building at the corner of Mass. Ave, and Plympton St.

Deputy Chief Patrick Cremins said that last night's fire started because of overheated Temporary wiring in the bedroom of a third-floor apartment. Damage was confined to the apartment where the fire started. The blaze was brought under control by 6:50 p.m.

Two hook-and-ladder trucks and four engines responded to the alarm. Most of the bedroom furnishings were thrown into the street where firemen hosed them own. Deputy Cremins said that last night's fire was the second largest in Cambridge this year.
