Frigid Duffers Tee Off Today In House Golf

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

October is usually a bit chilly for golf around these parts.

But the House golf tournament starts today anyway, and 100 or so duffers and sharpshooters will be tearing up the turf at the Milton Hoosic Golf Club to try to get their Houses off to a fast start in the race for the Straus Cup.

The tournament has been moved up from its usual late May date because it interfered with studying for finals and generals, according to Floyd Wilson, the director of intramural athletics.

Lincoln Field of Dudley House won medalist honors last year with a 76, 71--147 and he'll be back. The entire Kirkland House team -- last year's victors -- will be back too. But two members of last year's freshman team -- Bruce LoPucki of Dunster and Tom Wynne of Quincy -- should finish high in the standings.

The second round will be played Monday. All upperclassmen except varsity numeral winners are eligible.
