The Boston Celtics employed a tight defense to down Cincinnati, 116-103, to even a best of five series at 2-2. The winner of Friday night's game at the Boston Garden will face Philadelphia for the Eastern division title of the NBA.

Sam Jones, despite four personal fouls in the initial period, paced the Celtics with 33 points. Tom Sanders, with 14 points in the state first period and 23 for the game, shot consistently during Boston's cold spells.

Oscar Robertson, the Royals' workhorse, recorded 36 points, 13 assists, and 16 rebounds.
