Harvard Doctors Get Government Research Grants

The Medical School, the Dental School, and the School of Public Health have received 237 grants totaling $11,243,933 during the last three months.

The individual grants, ranging from to $995,900, came from divisions of the National Institute of Health; the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and the National Science Foundation.

Med School

Recipients of grants exceeding $100,000 at the Med School include: Dr. Joel Alpert, associate in Pediatrics, to study health care patterns among low income families; Dr. Gerald Caplan, clinical professor of Psychiatry, to study mental health implications of "conjugal bereavement;" and Dr. Robert H. Ebert, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, for the New England Regional Research Center and General research support.

Roy O. Greep, former dean of the Dental School and head of the Center for Human Reproduction, received more than for research support.

In addition, there were three grants exceeding $30,00 to the School of Public health.
