Freshman Group Considers Plans To Meet Cliffies

The Harvard and Radcliffe Freshman Councils have jointly proposed three projects to draw the freshman classes closer together.

Beginning in February, the councils want to sponsor free movies on a bi-weekly basis, a freshman lounge in the basement of Holmes Hall, and open seminars featuring Harvard Faculty members.

"Since mixers have been all but ruled out," Rita Fletcher, RFC president, said yesterday, "there aren't enough activities for us to meet Harvard fellows. A lot of those guys know Wellesley, but not about their own backyard."

The freshman lounge would be open until 2 a.m. every night, offering a TV, stereo, and refreshments. A similar idea was tried on weekend nights last year.

Jubilee

The HFC and Lowell House will also sponsor a concert at the Back Bay Theater during Jubilee Weekend, May 3-4-5.

"As far as I know," said Peter J. Bernbaum 71, chairman, "this has never been done before." Sumner A. Slavin '69, Lowell social chairman, said "We're really happy that Lowell's spring weekend and the freshman weekend are the same."

As a result, the budget for the show is around $10,000--much higher than each could afford alone.
