The University of Denver last night took its fourth NCAA hockey Championship with a 4-0 victory over North Dakota. Cornell whipped Boston College, 6-1, in the afternoon consolation game.
Denver rode to its victory on the strength of Bob Trembedky's two third period goals. The 5'9" junior hit at 2:44 and 13:16 in the period.
Cornell ran away from B.C. in the consolation game, as the Big Red scored six goals in the first two periods to put the game on ice. Brian Cornell scored three of them--in the second period. Boston College finally got on the scoreboard at 5:52 in the last period when Whitey Allen hit from 25 feet in front of the net.
